„CopperGarden®“ KARIBIK 0.5 Liter | Double Retort Still with Spirit burner
An extraordinary, fully functional miniature still modeled after traditional Caribbean rum stills. The „CopperGarden®“ KARIBIK passes the steam successively through two copper retorts, vividly demonstrating the historical principle of a Double Retort Pot Still.
Note: We recommend the KARIBIK primarily as a special collector’s item, demonstration model, and for small demonstrations and experiments. Due to the small 0.5-liter boiler and the elaborate steam path, no significant yield should be expected.

A Caribbean Rum Still in miniature
The „CopperGarden®“ KARIBIK is no ordinary small still. Its unusual design is based on traditional Caribbean rum stills, particularly those used in Jamaica and Barbados.
Internationally, this design is known as a Double-Retort Pot Still. In Portuguese, it is referred to as an alambique com duas retortas. It is occasionally also described as a two-column still. Technically, however, it is a double-retort still: the two copper vessels on the sides are retorts, not distillation columns.
What do the two retorts do?
In the large historical versions, the vapor from the boiler initially passes through one retort containing so-called low wine and then through another retort filled with high wine. This results in several evaporation and condensation processes taking place within a single distillation run.
This makes it possible to increase the alcohol content without necessarily making the spirit completely neutral in flavor. On the contrary, double-retort stills are still known today for producing particularly aromatic and characterful rums.
The KARIBIK transfers this fascinating principle to a miniature demonstration model with a capacity of just 0.5 liters. Due to its small size, however, it is not designed to produce an economical yield. Its particular value lies in its historical design, genuine functionality, and impressive appearance.
A Unique Copper Collector’s Piece
The entire still is mounted on a sturdy wrought-iron frame and is heated with a small spirit burner. The screwed connections make assembly easier and eliminate the need for additional sealing at these joints.
Each KARIBIK is handcrafted from bright copper at the „CopperGarden®“ Manufaktur in Portugal. The combination of wood, copper, and dark wrought iron gives the miniature still the appearance of a historic distillery.
This makes it an excellent choice as an unusual gift, an eye-catching addition to a collection, for training and demonstration purposes, or for personal experiments with distilled water.
