"Al-Ambik®" pH indicator paper pH 1-14
This indicator paper on a roll can reliably measure the pH range between pH 1 and pH 14 and clearly display the result using the included color scale. The roll with the 5-meter-long fine strip of litmus paper is very economical, as even a tiny piece is sufficient for a clear measuring result.
Important to know: Most hydrolates show a low pH value between pH 3.5 and pH 6.5 after distillation. During storage, this value rises and it is advisable to monitor it. From pH 7 onward, bacteria may begin to accumulate and the hydrolate is considered overaged and should be replaced as soon as possible.
For alcohol production, you need litmus paper to adjust the optimal pH value in your mash or must. The ideal pH value for optimal fermentation lies between 2.7 and 3.5 depending on the type of fruit used. If the pH value in your mash is higher, which is very likely, we recommend lowering it by adding acid, for example lactic acid, citric acid, must lactic acid, or the special Biogen M acid blend for fruit mashes.
Of course, you can also use this pH indicator paper to determine the pH value of water (e.g. for your washing machine, pool, or aquarium) or other liquids.
