Healthy frying with a copper pan

Our tip for a healthy life, long-lasting copper cookware and more enjoyment in the kitchen: use only high-quality oils and add a little to your pan right from the start. A copper pan should never be heated empty.

Important to know: From 232 degrees, the tin lining may begin to melt. From 250 degrees, the copper itself may warp.

A standard stovetop can reach 400u00b0, a ceramic glass cooktop up to 600u00b0, and a gas flame or open fire can exceed 1,000u00b0!

No worries! During normal cooking, frying, or baking, you will not reach these temperatures.

Pay attention to the smoke point. Itu2019s simple: if the oil starts to smoke, it is too hot! You will harm your health long before a copper pan is affected.

From 175u00b0 onward, frying and deep-frying becomes unhealthy in any pan! Acrolein begins to form. Even high-heat oils will burn at around 200u00b0. There is only one exception: artificially highly refined sunflower oils can reach extreme temperatures above 230 degrees.

Add your food to the pan before the oil burns! Your health will thank you u2014 and so will your pan!

Another tip: You donu2019t need a thermometer for frying. Use a wooden spoon and briefly dip the end into the hot oil. If fine bubbles form along the handle of the spoon, the pan and oil are hot enough for frying. If it starts to smoke, it is too hot.

What if it does happen? If you accidentally heat your pan above 232u00b0, the tin lining may melt. This is completely harmless to health, even if it comes into contact with food u2014 your body will simply eliminate it. If necessary, the pan can be re-tinned.

If you expose your pan to temperatures above 250 degrees, it may warp. This is not a major issue, but when cooking on an electric cooktop, a warped base may reduce heat transfer efficiency.

One more important note: Copper transfers heat very quickly u2014 including to the iron handle! Please always use an oven glove or cloth when handling the pan on the stove.

This copper pan is a very high-quality cooking tool. With a little care, it will quickly bring you great enjoyment and accompany you for a lifetime.
