SLAVA herb sickle made from copper with wooden handle
This robust herb sickle will surely become one of your favourite and most frequently used tools in the garden. The SLAVA sickle, made from its indestructible copper alloy, comes in a sustainable quality that is rarely found today. The inner edge of the sickle is sharpened for cutting and is ideal for harvesting your favourite herbs with smooth swinging movements. Thanks to the fine blade, this sickle is also perfect for cutting out and digging up anything growing between your plants. An excellent and versatile tool that you will certainly enjoy using.
We supply the sickle freshly sharpened with a handle made from natural untreated beech wood. The sickle measures approx. 32 cm in length with a 9.5 cm wide blade and weighs only 200 grams. Copper is lightweight and extremely energy-saving in use. The edges remain sharp for a long time and can easily be resharpened if necessary (or finely hammered back into shape). Copper has extremely low friction resistance, and any deformations can simply be hammered back into shape. Copper also does not rust and does not develop verdigris. You will love it for these excellent material properties as well. Copper is extremely easy to care for and lasts for centuries. Only the wooden handle should occasionally be treated with oil.
Material information: The copper alloy used for OJ garden tools contains up to 6% tin and is cold-hammered in a special process to achieve the necessary hardness. Copper combined with tin creates the harder bronze alloy. Copper is a flexible metal and will not break even under rough use. If something bends, it can easily be hammered back into shape with a few quick light hammer blows. During use in the garden, the copper will first become more reddish and will gradually continue changing into a dark brown colour. The dark patina protects the copper from oxidation and ensures it will last for generations.
