Wonderfully versatile column still in a non-reportable 2-liter size. This still has been specifically designed for the production of floral waters and essential oils. You can use it with or without the column, and selectively distill your plant material either directly from the boiler (such as rose water) or through steam distillation. You will love it. Important to know: You are allowed to use this still for the distillation of flavors, natural remedies, natural cosmetics, fragrances, alcohol-free beverages, water, etc. In Austria, you are also permitted to distill purchased (taxed) alcohol and produce your own spirits and gin. "CopperGarden®" 2 Liter ESSENCE Column Still
Our favorite piece! The column still is the most versatile of all our stills. It comes with a non-reportable 2-liter boiler, an 800ml aroma column for your plant material, a perfectly fitting distillation hat with a swan neck tube that can be used on either the boiler or the column, a properly sized worm cooler, and a small distance tube for elevation compensation (although it is best to leave it out during distillation).
Please note that some of the pictures show the still with the Al-Ambik® distillation thermometer, which can be purchased separately as an accessory and will be pre-assembled if you order it along with the still.
This still is without a doubt the most versatile still you can get in the two-liter size. The proportions between the amount of water and the volume of the column are optimal, and the diameters of all the pipes have been expanded and adjusted to ensure a good flow of steam and cooling water. It embodies the essence of all our stills, perfect for distilling your essences.
The special feature: You can use this column still with or without the column. The column is attached to the boiler and can be easily removed with one hand. This is very convenient for emptying and cleaning, but also when using the still without the column, such as for an alembic-style distillation of rose petals. You can selectively distill essential oils and hydrolates directly from the boiler, or use the column for gentle steam distillation.
In Austria, you can even go further and distill alcohol at home. You can distill aromatic fruit brandies without the column, or use the column to produce fine spirits or high-proof neutral alcohol, for example, by filling it with Raschig rings. You have thousands of possibilities to suit your preferences.
This still is our recommendation for all serious hobbyists.
Important note: This still can be legally sold in Germany without registration, according to the new German alcohol tax law (like any other still with a boiler capacity of up to 2 liters). Please note that as a seller, we explicitly state that this still is only intended for the distillation of distilled water, hydrolates, essential oils, flavors, fragrances, perfumes, fuel, food, alchemical experiments, etc., or as a collector's item. If you distill alcohol and get caught, you may be fined and your distillation equipment may be confiscated.

<h2>Stills up to 2 liters are non-reportable!</h2> <p>Thanks to the new German alcohol tax law (since January 1, 2018), we are able to freely sell and ship this still to you without any bureaucracy to all EU countries and most other countries on our planet.</p> <p><strong>Important to know:</strong> We must inform you that distilling alcohol is not allowed in Germany and Switzerland. The still can be used non-reportably for the distillation of water, hydrosols, flavors, natural remedies, cosmetics, essential oils, alcohol-free beverages, etc. If you want to legally distill alcohol in Germany or Switzerland, you will need a commercial distillation permit.</p> <p>In Austria, you can also use this still for flavoring and distilling spirits from purchased (taxed) alcohol using various flavor carriers, and legally distill gin, for example. However, distilling alcohol from fermented mash is also prohibited in Austria.</p> <p>Please comply with the laws in your home country. If you use this still to distill spirits at home, you would be considered an illegal distiller and could be charged with tax evasion for the amount of alcohol tax not paid. Additionally, the still could be confiscated.
