"CopperGarden®" Copper Wok with Lid

Hand-forged copper wok. Copper is the best material for wok cooking due to its excellent heat conductivity. In a wok, it’s important to sear food quickly over high heat at the bottom and then move the cooked portions to the cooler edges to keep them warm. The CopperGarden® copper wok is designed with tall sides so that the top edges stay cooler, allowing you to maintain the perfect temperature for every piece of food. This set includes a matching copper lid.

The wok is so beautiful that you can serve your food directly at the table in it – presentation meets function.

The wok is forged from 1.8 mm thick copper sheets and has a generous diameter of 28 cm. The interior is food-safe tinned, allowing you to safely prepare even acidic dishes. This wok is suitable for all cooking methods and types of food and can also be used over an open fire, directly in embers, or on a grill. The flat bottom allows it to be used even on small electric cooktops, though some heat loss may occur.

However, you should know that copper offers extremely good heat conductivity. The handle will become hot during use. Please be careful and use oven mitts and trivets.

Manufacturer Address: UNICOBRES GmbH & Co.KG, Hersfelder Strasse 16, 36132 Eiterfeld, Germany, E-Mail: info@destilatio.com

Why tinned copper? Copper provides the best heat conductivity. Using a core or coating made of aluminum or steel would lose this advantage. Tinning is 100% safe as the body simply excretes the tin. Heat conductivity is still preserved. If the tin coating becomes unsightly or scratched over time, it can be re-tinned, keeping the pan usable for life.

Healthy Cooking in a Copper Wok

Our tip for a healthy life, long-lasting copper cookware, and fun in the kitchen: use only good oils and add some to your wok right at the beginning. A copper pot should never be heated empty.

Important to know: At 232u00b0C (450u00b0F) the tin coating could start to melt. At 250u00b0C (482u00b0F), the copper may warp.

A regular stovetop can reach 400u00b0C (752u00b0F), a glass-ceramic cooktop up to 600u00b0C (1112u00b0F), and a gas flame or open fire can exceed 1,000u00b0C (1832u00b0F)!

Donu2019t worry! During normal cooking, frying, and baking, you will never reach these temperatures.

Watch the smoke point. Itu2019s simple: if the oil smokes, itu2019s too hot! You will harm your health long before the wok is affected.

Above 175u00b0C (347u00b0F), frying becomes unhealthy! Acrylamide forms. Even high-heat oils burn by 200u00b0C (392u00b0F). There is only one exception: artificially highly refined sunflower oils can reach extreme temperatures above 230u00b0C (446u00b0F).

Add your food to the wok before the oil burns! Your health will thank you, and so will your pan!

Another tip: You donu2019t need a thermometer for frying. Use a wooden spoon and dip the end into the hot oil. If fine air bubbles appear around the handle, the oil is hot enough for frying. If it starts smoking, itu2019s way too hot.

What if it happens anyway! If you accidentally heat your copper wok above 232u00b0C (450u00b0F), the tin may melt. This is 100% harmless even if some ends up in the food. Your body will simply excrete it. If necessary, the wok can be re-tinned.

If your copper pot is exposed to temperatures above 250u00b0C (482u00b0F), it may warp. This is usually not a problem, but on an electric cooktop, a warped bottom may cause heat transfer losses.

Another important note: Copper conducts heat extremely quicklyu2014even to the handle! Always use a pot holder or cloth when touching the pot.

This copper wok is a very high-quality, handcrafted cooking tool. With a little care, this wonderful wok will bring you joy quickly and accompany you for a lifetime.

Copper is a living metal and will change color with use. You can polish these u201cmarks of lifeu201d away, but we recommend letting the pot age gracefully.

Tin can dull with use. The original silver shine changes to a matte gray. If you wish, you can re-tin the wok at any time. For a wok of this size, this would cost around 30 Euros, but it is not necessary as long as the coating is not heavily worn or scratched.
